Speedy Ashtanga... god, it goes quick. I'm only just starting the balancing postures, so even though I labour some of the postures, I'm pretty much wrapped up in 40 minutes. Doesn't feel like long enough, but I'm learning, still. I'm learning. It worked in my favour this morning, though. I was up later than planned (thanks to that Other Me that lies there stubbornly ignoring the theme tune to Battlestar Galactica nagging at me) and I had a skype call with Beectoreea. I got back in very good time. Perfect. We noteeceem tha LSM, she needeen samfing ob the practeeseem. She cavered een the rast, jis. She makeen the eschoolvoy errors. O, jis.
A fabulous faceful of Vic, then, this creature that I love and admire and who makes me laugh like a trumpet and seems to press a little button that gives me permission to be a total idiot if I want to be (there were moments, this morning, of which I'm simultaneously proud and not proud, but they were REEEAAAALLLY funny).
And this followed by a very rewarding couple of hours with inspiring Rachel Rooney. How is it that I got to hang out with two such do-y and lovely writers? I'm very grateful. Rachel and I met on the same Arvon course that Lilley and I first came across each other on. It was a good one, that. It was brilliant. So many things to say... so little brainpower left. But I loved seeing her and if I'm lucky, I'll get another go on her (and on Sandra) tomorrow night. And then Anna, Si, Alibe and Io. What a delightful visit. A walk on a bitterly cold beach. How do children do it? They have these tiny bodies that surely should freeze faster than ours, but there were both of them, lying on the stones laughing and discussing something or other, not even shivering or doing that Lady Macbeth hand-wringng thing (which all of the rest of us were).
What can I say? It was just lovely. Albie is clever and engaging and brilliant. Io is too, and very cute and articulate. It was really, really nice. We had dinner. The cat behaved, pretty much. Thank god. Just a very nice occasion, really. Thank you.
