A very full day of entertaining work,
entertaining people and food. No internet access all day, or in the evening, or
even now. I had about 10 minutes sitting in a Beefeater. I had internet then. I
wrote one or two emails, but can no longer get on. Ah well. Shut up and go to
bed, then.
Dinner with delegates. I sat with a very
pleasing gentleman opposite me. All good. Don’t worry, I know about not
fraternising with delegates, and I never would. Doesn’t stop me playing the
decision game on that front, though. There was a clear winner today.
Lunch today was really quite surprising. It
was fried everything. Greasy chicken nuggets, onion rings, chips and
bacon/cheese melt baguettes. I think I’m missing out a fried good. I’m sure
there was something else. It was rough. I wonder if they’ll do the same
tomorrow. If they do, I think I might pop down to McDonald’s for a healthier
option (not often you can say that, is it?). I’m in Milton Keynes. It’s just as
soulless and Stepford Wivesy as it was yesterday.
Today, we were in the Sno!Zone for our
training session. A proper tiny ski slope in the beating heart of a MK shopping
centre that’s mostly junk food chanis and ski gear outlets. The whole town is
built to a very American plan, plus cul-de-sac landscaping. I’ve heard about
this place for so long, but I don’t remember ever being in this mally,
boulevardy bit of it before. Sno!Zone felt like a student union and smelt very
bad of fishy, salty, elderly flooring. Our corporate hostess was lovely,
though. So good. I’m grateful for that, as I am for all this time. Early start
tomorrow. Bye, then.
