Day 228: Snort

Our Face posted this on facebook. Ace
I love Jack Rebaldi. He's brilliant. I have just laughed, in one go, more than I have in something like fifteen years. I laughed so hard that my stomach hurt. People stared. Some had to join in and laugh too. I did the slow fade towards horizontal, shaking, silent, red like a cherry and all teared up. Why? Jack Rebaldi's face, that's why. And his teary-eyed Mutley laugh.*  And end-of-week exahustysteria. It was the most childish laughery ever, but it was wonderful. We also had other conversations, much more grown-up ones. I'm glad to learn more about his life and what makes it the shape that it is. I love to hear him talk about his daughter and his wife, his life and his experiences. And I love to laugh.

It's been a very good week. We've all worked hard and well. Today (and get THIS for job porn), we did our final training session as a mixed language session. We swapped between French and English at times between one sentence and the next. I even got to do part of one of my small group scenarios in German. I LOVED it. Good people all round. Table tennis in the middle of the day, just after lunch, to get everything moving again before going back in. The opportunity to play and get paid to do it, five days in a row. I loved it so much. I really did.

Terrifying. Irrelevant.
Now I'm in a delightfully shoddy little hotel between the Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est, being terribly Parisien and staying up too late. We just had a feast in the mirrory cafe where last year, a lady went unconscious and then puked (on my arm and on the floor), and Jack saw hungry mice making the most of it. Back in London tomorrow. I am lucky. Life is good.

* It's not much like this at all, but this is really funny, so watch it anyway, please: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HttF5HVYtlQ
