Day 184 - All Sparkle

Ha ha ha... spot the bit of yesterday's blog where I was Actually Asleep. Very good. Oh yes.

I'm grateful for my unplanned lie-in this morning. I thought I'd snoozed till 8ish. More like 10-ish. Goodness! The weather was beautiful and the pond was singing from afar, but my mind and body were exhausted and I made the mistake of thinking 'Just five more minutes...' Very grateful, then, that Paloma was so sweet and gentle about my slightly missed deadline. Deep in it, I was, with my lovely new hair all rucked up and ungainly at the back of my head and the covers up round my neck.

Simone - an osteopath who really knows her stuff. My treatment was very capable, if agonising in parts (but all within the bounds of reasonable thresholds). And I loved meeting Ukranian Karia, who identified in a tiny number seconds what my bridesmaid's dress needed. Speaking of dresses, I LOVED dressing up on Saturday night. I wore, from the bottom up, black heels, stay-up stockings, a frondy Charleston dress and a brand new 1920s-style haircut, all sheer at the back. I actually felt feminine without feeling all wrong about it. I loved it. Thank you for all the wonderful comments from women who looked stunning.

Grateful for entertaining work done, emails sent and some sense of achievement today. And for the fact that both Vic and I forgot the same meeting. Vic who I love to see, who nourishes me like baby bio and good fertiliser, who pleases me beyond reasonable doubt. So grateful! We both forgot, and I'd have been stretched to meet up anyway, what with other deadlines too... So we had a glorious snippet on the phone and we are good. How nice.

Fabulous Goatsong rehearsal, full of new things that I didn't know about, a physically compromised plastic heron and some excellent people. A sausage and lentil surprise too - so good - and a long-haired, fickle cat with white socks and one black toe. A monkey to take home with me. A walk with pleasing Ms Pipe and a crazy cycle home through benevolent Arsenal crowds, who took over the Holloway Road. Like nothing I've ever seen.

And a delightful text from Daniel Harvey, soon to marry Esther Lilley, my beloved friend. I don't have words to say how happy I am about that. Very. Happy. Indeed. Happy like this lady with her sparkly eyes and hat. I'd like a 1920s hat. I would. One day.

  1. Ha ha... I think I'm getting it wrong. I should be yearning after a partner that fits me as well as Daniel fits Esther Lilley. Not a sparkly hat.
