I am humbled by all I have to be grateful for stretching over the last few days. On my knees kind of humbled. Just brilliant. Yesterday, I did my juiciest day's work yet - with Rob Grundel, as State of Play. The day before too was a big day of work - workier, I'd say, than the actual delivery day. We'd designed the bones of a workshop for 60 people. More than just the bones, actually, but there were some unknowns that we needed to look at before we could finish. When we did look at them - and for other reasons too - we redesigned everything, pretty much. It was as good as starting from scratch. It was very exciting. Sometimes it was hard - we got a bit stuck at one point and time and tiredness seemed against us. Rob took everything forward beautifully with a suggestion of going out into the beautiful Danish countryside (just behind the hotel) and letting it go from there. What a brilliant suggestion. Everything flowed more easily. Everything sang. By the time we went for dinner, we were there enough to relax. We did good and we worked really well together, with respect, creativity, authenticity (sound wanky? it's SO important) and warmth, even at the same time as it being challenging.
And then the delivery day. I was nervous enough not to be able to have much breakfast, but our first round, a half-hour warm-up at the start of the day, went beautifully. We were there for the bit we weren't facilitating (but had designed), and observing that (among other things) led us to make some changes. We were flexible on timing. We adapted. We sang. And when it got to showtime, we were on it like a proper rash. LOVED IT! Rob blew me away - he was great. Lots of feedback on how well we worked together. We're onto something really, really good. I'm VERY excited indeed about this work. I really am. Official feedback coming next week. I'm excited to see what that will look like. We're still using the drop2 website, but State of Play will be up very soon, and full of stuff we're ready to dive in with. Brilliant. Just so brilliant.
My journey back from Heathrow was long, but smooth and I had the pleasure of a hot bath, all gentle, before bed. You can't beat it, really, can you? It's pretty good.
So much more too... I'm kind of bubbling in it. Just.... thank you.
